Dearest Presidents and Collaborators,

Today we are celebrating the first ever International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and welcoming this day in Africa. On behalf of the Ju-Jitsu African Union (JJAFU), I would like to seize this opportunity to welcome this day in the African Ju-Jitsu as a day of cooperation, understanding, brotherhood and helpfulness. We are following the call of United Nations and African Union and passing our greetings to all others continents and our umbrella federations Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) and the African Associations of Sports Confederations (AASC).

Thanks very much for the testimony made about that Greatest Man who has been a permanent actor in all the Ju-Jitsu/Self-Defense development battles in Africa (Since the creation of the JJAFU-Ju-Jitsu African Union), and also in my personal training in Ju-Jitsu/Self-Defense. I was so chocked since I heard about his death, that i had no words to express my deep sorrow and sadness. I found enough strength to express my deep feeling. There are several years that i requested from him for the African honor to visit our continent, and particularly Cameroon where I could easily host him also; however, he has gone, but he will remain forever in our minds. With the JJAFU's Board, I will see how to officially recognize the Great Job and Assistance of the late Master Herbert FRESE.

May the Great God in which I believe, receive his soul.

Colince Tatsa Chinda,
JJAFU President

With great sorrow and shock we learned of the untimely passing away of our friend, brother and leader, JJIF Honorary President, Ju-Jitsu European Union President Herbert Frese. The Ethiopian Ju-Jitsukas and my Africans compatriots are deeply shocked on the loss of this great fighter in sport and life. Herbert Frese enabled the integration of Ethiopian Ju-Jitsu in the International Ju-Jitsu, welcomed the Judo and Ju-Jitsu cooperation in Ethiopia and supported particularly not to give up this wonderful sport. His big wish was to visit one day Ethiopia particularly Africa again. He was a man of great insight and personality someone who was very dedicated to support Africa and the rest of the world.

We salute this great Ju-Jitsu and sport icon and I wish to convey our condolences to his family, to the German Ju-Jutsu Federation, European Ju-Jitsu Federation, German Olympic Sport Confederation, Ju-Jitsu International Federation as well as the entire German Sport Family.

May God bless your soul our dear brother Herbert!

Dr. Tsegaye Degineh,
JJAFU Vice President
