From November 18 to 22, Ju-Jitsu, Grand Master Joachim Thumfart, the technical Director of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation and the German Ju-Jutsu Federation respectively instructed the Zone 5 Ju-Jitsu seminar at Arat Kilo Sports and Education Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Joachim Thumfart was Ju-Jitsu world champion in 1998 and also ten times German national champion.

Around 70 participants and Ju-Jitsu instructors from the Police, different sport clubs and other interested young athletes attend the seminar. During the five-day training, they enlarge their technical repertoire and have the unique opportunity to learn from a Grand Master.

"All participants are very interested and eager to enhance their skills. It is a pleasure working with them", says Joachim Thumfart, and pointed out that it is important to strengthen Ju-Jitsu in Africa. Mr. Thumfart is glad to contribute to the development of Ju-Jitsu in Ethiopia and Africa. Unfortunately, due to organizational and schedule reasons, the athletes from Djibouti and Uganda couldn't participate in the seminar as had been hoped.

This unforgettable seminar was also covered by the media. The seminar was held in Addis Ababa in cooperation with the Addis Ababa Martial Arts Federation and Ethiopian Judo & Ju-Jitsu Association. It was initiated by Ju-Jitsu African Union and is supported by the Ju-Jitsu International Federation as well as the German Ju-Jutsu Federation.
